What is a Morse taper sleeve?
Used for sizing up or sizing down morse taper shank tools. Most commonly used in conjunction with morse taper shank drill bits or morse tapered reamers, these drill sleeves allow you to adjust upwards or down wards the morse tapering between machine and tool bit.
What is the difference between Morse taper and Jacobs taper?
Jacobs Tapers are used almost exclusively for Drill Chuck Mounting. Morse Tapers are found in a wide variey of tooling: drill bits, reamers, end mill holders, drill chuck arbors, collets, lathe centers, etc.
What is the difference between #1 and #2 Morse taper?
A: # 1 Morse Taper is 0.369 on the small end going up to 0.475 over a 2 9/16'' taper length. #2 Morse Taper is 0.572 on the small end going up to 0.700 over a 3 1/8'' taper length. Number 2 Morse taper is the most common size used with woodworking lathes.
