What is an end mill holder?
End mill holders have a slight amount of clearance built in so the end mill can be inserted into the holder. The force of the set screw pushes the end mill to one side thus inducing a small amount of runout by design. Depending on the quality of the end mill holder this runout can be very small or very large.
WELDON end mill holders can be used to reliably clamp tools with a lateral clamping face on the cylindrical shank. Due to the clamping screw of the mounting, the tool cannot twist or pull out. The mounting is suitable for clamping tools with cylindrical shanks in accordance with DIN 1835B and DIN 6535HB.
What is the difference between weldon and universal shank?
mostly "universal shank cutters" can be used in "weldon -shank machines, whereas weldon-shank annular cutters can't use in "one-touch" machines without the help of an extra adapter.
A Weldon flat is a flat section on a tool shank. When placed in a Toolholder the flat on the shank is held in place by set screws within the body of the holder. Using this flat, a set screw securely holds the tool and prevents the tool from rotating when machining.
